July - wk 3 ... Tower of London, Electricity and Splash parks

Last day of sports leadership
I felt really sad, as it was the last day of sports leadership. We played some games, then we planned out a session and delivered it. E and I did Animal splat. It was funny.I then went back to E's for a sleepover.

Tower of London
On the second day of my two night sleepover with E, we went to the Tower of London. It was very busy with school trips. First we went through a market to get to the tower bridge and finally got to the Tower of London. The first thing we did when we got in was to look at the crown jewels. They were very shiny and very amazing. At one point we went on a sliding thing that went across for you to look at the crown jewels. After that we saw the bloody tower. It is famous because of the princes who were locked up in it. Finally we looked in all the rooms, and found out about being in the tower and how they would shoot people through the tiny windows with arrows. We also saw the armour they wore and met the Beefeaters.

2 night sleepover
Me and my best friend E had a 2 day sleepover followed after from sports leadership. We made fliers for Tarise which is a webshow we are working on together. We also made loom bands to go with them. We also watched Icarly.

On the third day of our sleepover, we went to the Splash park
in Leighton Buzzard where lots of other HE people meet up.

The splash park has a wet area, a playground and sand pit all in the same place. It was very busy. We had arranged to meet a friend there and met loads of other friends too so there was, me, my sis F, E, E, L, M, L, K and J!
Playing in the park was fun but we got very dizzy.

Then we built a massive sand volcano and buried each other.
Electricity day in Stevenage college.

My day started by meeting E cartwheeling outside. Then we went inside the building and headed up for the science day. First we learnt some history. Here is some of it. Electricity was first discovered in the ancient greek times. It was discovered by rubbing amber to cats fur. Then we did some activities and my group with E in was called Faraday after a person who discovered a lot about electricity.

We  made propellas and made them spin with a baloon that we rubbed on our hair. Mine worked really well. After that we poured Lemon juice in a pot and put 2 wires in it with copper on one and a nail one the other. To make electricity. Then finally we made a circuit using rubbish.

Splash park in Stevenage
Guess what? I unexpectedly went to a water park with E. We were not prepared for it at all and after two seconds in the splash park we got drenched in our clothes with out any towels. Next we went in the playground.

All we really wanted to go on was this, the greatest thing of all apart from a load of year twos didn't let us on initially. Anyway, in the end we got on it and stayed on it for ages. The only problem was we couldn't push are selves so we got my sister Emily too. She is really good at pushing.

In are garden we have Blueberries that my mum grew. Look at them they are so yummy. Hurry up and take a picture so I can eat them!

Our plants.
We have been growing some veg in our front garden it is going really well. There are sweetcorn, courgettes and pumpkins in this photo.
Puzzle
I finished a Horrible History 300 piece puzzle.

I did some Cross stitch of a butterfly.
I did some work on codes with my Dad. It was really fun.

I also taught myself how to do Inverted fishtail which is a type of loom band. Yey!!!

What a great week!

July - Wk 2 .... Oxford Story Day, Geology in Beds and Woburn Sands Festival

It was a very busy week!

Oxford
We went to Oxford for a story telling day based around Alice in Wonderland and visited the Story Museum.
The first place we went to was Bodleian library with all of the old and rare copies of Alice in wonderland. There were other books written by C.S Lewis, Tolkein and of course, Lewis Carol .
Then we went to the story museum and got given a leaflet to put stamps in about the authors we learnt about. The authors chose their favourite character from a book and then there was a room on each of the characters.
One of the authors' favourite charactors was Till Eulenspiegel who is a German Robin hood type of character. There were many stories written about him but this one was like the Emperors new clothes.

This author was dressed as Hanuam, the Indian monkey God.

This author Kevin Crossley Holland had chosen Merlin from Merlin. This was probally my favourite as it was magical when I walked down it.
Look how series he is and his book looks so old. He's creepy
This was really cool you chose a costume, wrote a sentence on a board of what you are meant to be,sit on the thrown and then a voice will say what you wrote. I was the naughty princess of the stars and I was dressed as a cow girl.
This was really magical because we stepped through a wardrobe and entered a room that looked like Narnia. It felt like I stepped into the book. I often dream of being in stories or things I have watched I wish it came true.
This was cool,my dad made me scrub the decks because it's TREASURE ISLAND arrrrrrr (read with a pirate accent).
This was Just William. It reminded me and my dad, of the den/shed in Secret Seven and Horrid Henry.

This was a song writing workshop where we wrote a song about a mad hatters tea party.
My Mum had a stall at the local Festival which was brilliant.  I met some HE friends them and went with them for a while, and a lot of ex-sch friends were there too. There were loads of things to do and watch.

Cubs
At cubs this week, I became a sixer. Yey! I am so proud. :-)

Home Ed club
My sister and I went to a Home Ed club which we thought would be brilliant. We did some street dance but it was quite easy for us. We did stepping to the side while clapping, jumping while clapping then we played loom bands.
I learnt how to do fish tail in loom bands. I've wanted to learn this for ages.
After that we went to the park and guess what, I got to the top of that. It wasn't the best park in the world but it was good.

This was really fun apart I didn't go on it because I couldn't reach.

Woburn Sands Folk Festival
I went to Woburn Sands for a folk festival with a friend. First we looked at some poetry. I have 3 favourites and this lady is one of them. She sang songs and she read poems. One was about being young one was about being old, called Vintage, and one was about Narnia.
This man was a story teller called Yaw Asiyama. He told a story about learning spellings and made me, my friend, my sister and my Mum stand up and be part of the story.
This was Mister L (Greg Loftman) Gregs who did rap kind of poetry. You can find him on facebook.  Another poet did short 6 liners, but too many of them!
After the poetry we looked round the stalls of crafts and other things, then had lunch.
As we were about to leave, there were a few Morris Dancers performing in the street.

Geology

We went on a couple of Home Ed organised Geology trips. First we saw the sand pit which was in the woods at Apsley Heath.People from the village used to be able to take sand from here.It has the sand it used to be the bottom of the sea.

Below the sand there is a special layer called Fullers earth. This has been used since Roman times for many things including taking the grease out of wool.  We saw some bell pits which are the remains of mines for Fullers earth. We also saw lots of lumps of iron.

We walked down the path to a roman laundry.

Two days later we went to  Potten were there was a quary by the scout hut.We saw the layers of iron and sand from 100,000000 years ago.It was really cool to think were we where used to be under the sea.We saw fossil worm holes and a layer of fuller's earth which is ash from a volcano. The big holes are nest's of birds called Sand Martins.

June Wk 5/July Wk 1....Shuttleworth and Childwickbury Arts Festival

Kali's party
I went to one of my school friends party which was ice skating. I've only been once or twice and I always fell over lots, but I didn't fall over once this time. In between, we made loom bands. I made 4 on my fingers. We then went to Harvesters for a meal which was delicious!

Monday sports
If you saw one of my other posts I told you about a 5 hour sports thing on Monday.Well the second week we got to teach netball to the other children. It was great fun.

Charlotte here
A friend from school came over who I haven't seen for ages.We played this game we always used to play all the time. It is called vampires and fairies, apart this time we filmed it to make a movie.

Shuttleworth
I went to Shuttleworth's display of aeroplanes with cubs. I drew pictures and wrote stuff  down in my notepad. Some are over one-hundred years old. One of the aeroplanes there was used in an actual movie. One of their old motorbikes is the only one in the world.

Bailey our dog is so cute!

Childwickbury Arts Festival
This is an art festival I went to 2 years ago and this time I went with my friends. It is brilliant. It has lot's of marquees and buildings with different artists and there art to learn about. We got given a booklet to fill in then off we went to explore. Don't these scarecrows creep you out?
First we went to a felt ball making session. The person who organized it told us a story about felt and then we got started.
Wool can be very heavy and strong. This was huge and so heavy, I could barely pass it to the person next to me.
This is my ball of felt wool that I made.

After that I met up with my friends and we looked at the artists. They were by a guy called Gerard who made sculptures out of every day objects like brooms, chains etc.

Here is one of Gerard's scultures.

Here are some of my friends. :-)
My sister loved this artist Sam Peacock and wants to have a go but in involves fire, sandblasting, a blow torch, food, steel etc. His pictures are very cool.
This is one of Christian Funnells constructions made from metal work. They are amazing.
 This artist used spray paints.

This is Anja Penger-Onyett who makes ceramics and paints them in metalized glaze which produces different effects in the kiln.

This is a pot by the Eeles family. The affect is amazing and looks fragile but its on ceramics so isn't very fragile really. The affect is made using copper oxide glaze and dipping the pot into an open fire.

This artist used water colour to create images of buildings she saw in Cuba.

This is Angela Allaway who home educates and paints trees. Her work is fantastic and very detailed. She was probably my favourite artist out of them all.
This work is by Jan Gardner. She uses different
paints, layers and fabrics. Her work is very
distinctive as she uses vibrant colours.

This artist uses water colours and was really helpful in explaining his work, what type of paper to use etc. He worked layering up his work creating these amazing images like shadows of people.

We did the "Big Draw" together. There was a scene set, someone dressed up as an elf, and we had to use our imagination combining them. We all had different styles.
